Arborg & District Arena



The Arborg & District Arena is the hub of activity during the winter months and can be classified as one of the best in the Interlake.
 
Features include:
    •    Large, heated indoor viewing area
    •    Rink side seating for 800 spectator
    •    Full commercial kitchen
    •    6 large dressing rooms with showers
    •    Meeting room
    •    Satellite TV
    •    Activity Room
The Arena is NHL standard size artificial ice surface. Numerous groups calling it home include:
    •    Arborg Minor Hockey (ages 5 - 17 years)
    •    Arborg Skating Club (ages 3 - 17 years)
    •    Recreation Hockey League
    •    Arborg Ice Dawgs Junior B Hockey Club  www.arborgicedawgs.com
Along with these traditional user groups, the Arena also accommodates:

Public skating - Sunday afternoon, helmets are mandatory.birthday party rentals,

Floor curling  - Tuesday, 10 am - 2 pm, $1/person 

Hockey with Reims - Boys & Girls, ages 4 - 7 years, starts mid January

40+ Recreation Hockey - Thursday @ 9:15 PM, drop in's welcome.

The Recreation Commission has partnered with Kidsport to supply hockey equipment to youth between 7 - 10 years of age. An excellent way for families to borrow equipment for a season without the expense. Equipment is limited so contact the Recreation office early to avoid disapointment. 

The arena is also available for Birthday Party Rental opportunities and each summer offers a daycamp program designed for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old.

Arborg Bifrost Community Centre


Constructed in 2004, the Community Centre, 409 Recreation Centre, is the 'Heartbeat" of Arborg and surrounding area.
 
The Community Centre povides numerous amenities such as:
    ◦    Commercial Kitchen
    ◦    Internet Access
    ◦    2 Ceiling Mounted Projectors & Screens for Presentations
    ◦    Stage
    ◦    1,500 square foot Dance floor
    ◦    Sound System
    ◦    Second Convenience Kitchen


Versatility is what separates the Community Centre apart from any other facility in the Interlake. It can play host to events for 10 people up to 500 with ease and comfort. The Community Centre uses its movable wall system to divide the facility into 2 rooms; the Arborg Credit Union Room and the Puratone Room. Each room is unique and provides the user with all the amenities for a successful event.
 
Whatever your event, wedding, social, dance, conference, play, seminar, meetings, etc., the Arborg Bifrost Community Centre is the place to make it happen.

Arborg Bifrost Curling Club


Curling has a long history in the Town of Arborg, dating as far back as 1945. Through the years, the sport has changed and developed but the one constant is the love residents have for it.

May to October - The Curling Club is transformed into a Pickle Ball Club. Featuring 5 courts, people of all ages & abilities are welcome to come out and enjoy this fast growing game. 


The Curling Club, 417 Recreation Centre, features a 4 sheet ice surface with conditions ranked as one of the best in the Interlake. Other features of the Curling Club include:
    •    Club room
    •    Changing rooms
    •    Canteen facilities
    •    Satellite TV
The Curling Club annually hosts a number of bonspiels and is home to Mens, Ladies, Mixed and Junior Leagues.


Curling Programs may include:

Little Rocks Curling:

Youth Curling: Open to Grade 6 - 10 Youth, 30 minutes of instruction followed by a game. 

Junior Curling - League:  

Sticks & Stones: Continue to curl with no sliding and virtually no sweeping.

Men's League: Tuesday, 7 pm 

Women's League: Thursday, 7 pm

Mixed Doubles League: 


Located just outside the Curling Club is the World's Largest Curling Rock. Erected in June of 2005, the Rock pays tribute to 2 local High School teams who won the Provincial High School Curling Championship titles in 1948/49, 1949/50 and 1988. A plaque below the monument highlights each of these individuals in their momentous place in the history of curling in Arborg.

Baseball Diamonds

There are 5 community baseball diamonds in the Town of Arborg. Three are located on recreation centre grounds and two are located at the Arborg Early Middle Years School. 

Icelandic River Skating Trail

Approximately 3 km of winding trail, the scenic Icelandic River Skating Trail takes you from the Town of Arborg into the neighboring Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton. Along with the skating trail, there is a large skating rink, a groomed trail for cross country skiing and an additional trail for snowmobiles. This trail is maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers and the support of the local community. 

Icelandic River Walking Trail

  

     

Walk along the picturesque Icelandic River Trail as it winds along the Icelandic River in the Town of Arborg. Great for a leisurely stroll or a fast-paced walk along the river. A new pet waste system was installed at the start of the trail in 2021.
